Suspected Drunk Driver In Custody After Police Chase
On December 1, 2021, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office observed a a male passed out in a vehicle, sitting in a moving lane of traffic in the 3400 block of the N Sam Houston Parkway.
When deputies awoke him, he drove over stop sticks and fled the scene.
Constable Deputies pursued the vehicle and were able to stop it in the 11000 block of Champions Green Drive.
The driver was apprehended and identified as Eddie Newton, who displayed several signs of intoxication.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered and it was discovered that he was driving while intoxicated.
Further investigation revealed that he was out on bond for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.
"Eddie Newton was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.
His bond and court information have not been set at this time." - Constable Mark Herman
