Constable Mark Herman's Office Provides Distracted Driving Training
Constable Mark Herman's Training Division is currently providing multiple training classes in combating Distracted Driving to officers from all over the Harris County area.
April is recognized as Distracted Driving month and Constable Herman is taking a proactive approach in combating this dangerous situation by training officers from his agency and other agencies within the surrounding area.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration "Distracted driving has become a deadly epidemic on our roads.
While drivers texting behind the wheel tops what seems like an endless list of distractions, other risky actions include talking on the phone or to others in the car, setting your navigation, adjusting what you’re listening to, drinking coffee, applying makeup, and more.
By driving distracted, you’re robbing yourself of seconds that you may need to avoid a close call or deadly crash".
The Distracted Driving course is designed to assist law enforcement in realizing the effect that distracted driving can have while operating a motor vehicle.
The course will heighten law enforcement officers awareness and reshape their attitudes and beliefs to adapt a self-disciplined standard of focused attention to safe driving, as well as influencing their peers, families, friends and community members.
This training is being hosted with the assistance of the Texas Municipal Police Association.
Training provided by the Harris County Precinct Four Training Division is provided free of charge and provides the officers knowledge needed to better serve the community.
