Reminder To Check Your Heaters As It Gets Colder

A of us will be turning our heating systems on tonight, so let's remember our heater safety checklist and keep flammable items such as clothing, bedding and curtains away from heat sources!

✓ Make Sure Your Heater Works - Since we don’t use a heater for a majority of the year, it’s important to make sure that it produces heat safely.

✓ Replace and Maintain Your Air Filter - Dirty air filters can cause dander, germs, and dirt to flow throughout the house.

✓ Check Your Air Ducts - If you really have to turn up the heat just to get your house warm, you may need to check if your ducts are clean and properly sealed.

Dust in air ducts can become a fire hazard.

✓ Have Your Furnace Burner Checked - There’s an actual flame there, so it should be free of dirt, grime, grease, or anything else that could inadvertently catch on fire.

✓ Check For Carbon Monoxide - Over an extended period of time, a chimney can gather grime and soot to the point it can trap fumes in the house, and problems with your furnace can also lead to a buildup of carbon monoxide.
